content, design, and delivery.
- Ensure
that content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined
learning objectives and that they are regularly reviewed for opportunities
for improvement.
- Ensure
timely student assessment through the preparation, moderation,
administration and marking of examinations.
- Guide
students at undergraduate and graduate level in identifying research
topics, concept development, proposal development and supervision.
- Ensure
that accurate student records, including registers, reports, student
assessment and achievement are updated in the Academic Management System.
- Identify
sources of funding through grant writing to advance research portfolio at
the school.
- Engage
in publishing papers as well as attending, participating, presenting
papers in workshops, conferences and professional seminars.
- Collaborate
with other researchers internally, nationally and internationally, for
purposes of establishing research linkages and contribute to attainment of
the school’s research objectives.
- Responsible
for administrative duties when called for including at not limited to
leadership of academic programmes, membership of different committees, or
being part of the management of the school.
Education, Skills & Experience
Must have:
- Three
(3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
- Doctor
of Philosophy in relevant area of specialization from a recognized
academic institution.
- Master’s
Degree in relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic
institution.
- Bachelor
of Education Arts/Science/ Special Needs education(Secondary option)
- Registration

Media Technologist (School of Education) at Mount Kenya University
Reporting to: Dean, School of Education
Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare,
operate, and maintain facilities and equipment in the Micro-Teaching
Laboratory, Media Resource Centre, Language Laboratory, and Geography
Laboratory.
- Provide
technical support for teaching practice simulations, including recording,
playback, and analysis of sessions.
- Manage
and support Smart Classrooms and ICT-enabled teaching spaces, ensuring
reliable use of projectors, interactive boards, and Learning Management
Systems (LMS).
- Oversee
acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, and maintenance of media resources
in the Media Resource Centre and School Library.
- Train
faculty and student-teachers in instructional technologies, Blackboard
(BB) skills, smartboard use, and classroom presentation techniques.
- Support
learners in information retrieval, digital literacy, and academic
referencing, integrating e-learning and digital platforms into teaching
and learning.
- Ensure
adherence to safety protocols, and manage storage, security,
troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory and media equipment.
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have:
Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of
instructional software and audio-visual equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in Education Technology, Bachelor of
Technology Education (BTech), Instructional Technology or its equivalent from a
recognized institution.
At least 3 years’ relevant experience working in an
University media resource center or instructional technology setting.
