Finance & Controls Officer

Job Purpose:

The role provides comprehensive financial management, implementation of internal controls, assurance of compliance, and execution of regulatory reporting for HAPROK in line with the Sustainable Waste Management Act and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulations, 2024.

The Finance & Controls Officer is responsible for managing HAPROK’s financial operations, safeguarding resources, ensuring statutory compliance, and strengthening governance and accountability systems.

Key objectives:

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of all financial records.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal control systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with EPR Regulations 2024 and statutory financial obligations
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Strengthen financial governance and risk management within HAPROK.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your specific duties will include and not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts for HAPROK.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial control systems and compliance frameworks.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including Fund Accountability Statements.
  • Manage member subscription invoicing, follow-ups, collections, and reconciliation of EPR-related fees.
  • Issue invoices and generate customer/member statements.
  • Receive and record all payments (cash, cheques, EFT, MPESA) and post them into the accounting system.
  • Perform complete bank reconciliations and ensure all receipts match invoices issued.
  • Process supplier invoices and prepare payment vouchers in compliance with financial policies.
  • Maintain accurate ledgers and ensure proper posting of all financial transactions.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and implement corrective controls where necessary.
  • Prepare statutory financial documentation required for EPR registration, licensing, and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain proper financial records in compliance with record-keeping requirements under Regulation 19 of the EPR Regulations.
  • Prepare financial schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation controls.
  • Develop and maintain financial standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and fraud prevention controls within financial processes.
  • Track financial obligations related to annual licensing and regulatory compliance under EPR frameworks.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for financial and compliance documentation.
  • Provide financial analysis and reports to support decision-making by the HAPROK Coordinator.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the HAPROK Coordinator from time to time.

Requirements

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA (K) qualification completed is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in finance, accounting, or financial controls.
  • Experience working in regulatory, membership-based, NGO, or Producer
  • Responsibility Organization (PRO) environments is an added advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial control systems.
  • Solid understanding of financial governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the Sustainable Waste Management Act and EPR Regulations 2024.
  • Strong financial reporting and analytical skills.

Job Purpose:

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer will be responsible for the designing, implementing, and managing of the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework for the KAM SME Domestic Market Access project. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop data collection systems, track program indicators across impact, outcome, and output levels while ensuring the project will generate timely, highquality evidence to inform decision-making, strengthen accountability, and drive continuous program improvement. The Officer will work closely with Projects Manager and the SME Development Officer to ensure that all program activities are adequately monitored and that lessons learned inform ongoing implementation and strategic decision-making.

Duties & Responsibilities

MEL Framework Design and Implementation

  • Design and implement comprehensive M&E frameworks, plans, indicators, and results matrices aligned with project objectives and donor requirements.
  • Develop and deploy data collection tools and methodologies for baseline assessments, needs assessments, progress tracking and endline assessments.
  • Continuously refine M&E tools, methodologies, and feedback mechanisms to support organizational learning and adaptive management.

Data Collection and Quality Assurance

  • Create data collection protocols, quality assurance procedures, and guidelines for consultants and implementing teams.
  • Support the continuous data collection activities to track project outputs, outcomes, and impact.

 Data Analysis and Performance Monitoring

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical and analytical techniques to assess performance and identify trends.

  • Impact Storytelling: Produce two “Deep-Dive Impact Stories” annually using qualitative methods (e.g., Most Significant Change) to complement quantitative data for donor reporting.

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably within development, SME support, or nonprofit programs.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded intern to join the Agriculture for Industry (A4I) team in implementing transformative value chain projects. The intern will support research, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and project coordination, with a focus on priority value chains including tomatoes, avocados, cotton, edible oils, leather, dairy, and BMC, among others.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an observatory on national, regional and international developments that impact on industry.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for selected value chains (e.g., tomatoes, avocados).
  • Support the development of farmer extension programs on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Contribute to market research on demand-supply dynamics, export opportunities, and import substitution.

Job Purpose:

The ESG Lead will coordinate and conduct SAVI activities in Kenya for KAM. The position combines general project management responsibilities with technical facilitation and implementation with companies. In the role, the candidate will support Kenyan companies (KAM members) in successfully achieving capacity to reporting and improving their ESG performance and facilitating sustainability dialogues across selected companies value chains.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, localization, and integration of ESG and EUDR compliance services into KAM’s consulting portfolio under the SAVI programme.
