Position
M.P. Shah Hospital is seeking to recruit a professional and
evidence-driven individual to join the Operations Division as the Head
Engineer.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the overall
purpose of this role is to manage healthcare technologies to facilitate safe,
effective, timely, patient-centered, efficient, and equitable delivery of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide
technical support for clinical equipment, including scheduled and
unscheduled maintenance, inventory management, and on-call support.
- Serve
as the hospital’s expert on medical device management, offering guidance
on regulation, risk, procurement, modification, and servicing.
- Lead
quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives related to
equipment use, maintenance, and repair.
- Develop
and review safety and emergency plans for critical equipment; manage
recalls and safety alerts.
- Establish
preventive maintenance schedules, procedures, and training programs for
technical staff.
- Coordinate
special projects such as equipment procurement, installation, upgrades,
and disposals.
- Develop
and deliver safety and equipment training programs for clinical teams;
evaluate devices for purchase.
- Manage
departmental budgets, contracts, and procurement, including medical
equipment replacement planning.
- Identify
and address training needs for technicians and engineers to enhance
departmental technical capacity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Biomedical Engineering from a
recognized institution. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Registered
Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Minimum
of 8 years of working experience, with at least 3 years at senior
management level in the healthcare sector.
- Proven
experience in project management, plant maintenance, and facility
engineering.
- Strong
understanding of hospital systems, including medical gases, HVAC, water
supply, power distribution, and waste management.

JOB ADVERT – PLUMBER
M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional, and
evidence driven person for a vacancy in the Engineering Department as a
Plumber.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the overall purpose
of this role is to ensure the continuous flow of water and drainage by
maintaining, installing and repairing pipes, valves, fittings and drainage
systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plumbing
Inspection – Conduct daily inspection of fixtures, pipes, valves and
drainage systems
- Maintenance
– Conduct scheduled maintenance of plumbing works, water system and
equipment as to enhance the efficiency and safety.
- Monitoring-
Inspect and document water meter readings every morning
- Reporting-Detect
and document plumbing malfunction. Inform the maintenance supervisor of
plumbing malfunction and report the materials required to fix the
malfunction.
- Procurement-
Estimate the costs of plumbing materials and advice on the selection and
procurement of the material required for plumbing.
- Repair
and installation- Repair and install plumbing system such as sinks, taps
valves and pipes.
- Inventory
Maintenance – store and maintain an inventory of plumbing tools such as
wrench, saw, plunger, nipple and reducer.
- Participate
in kaizen implementation – Constantly look for ways to improve
plumbing.

HVAC Technician at M.P. Shah Hospital
M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional, and
evidence driven person for a vacancy in the Engineering Department as a HVAC
Technician.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the overall purpose
of this role is to ensure optimum utilization and safety of all HVAC/R systems
in the hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- HVAC
Maintenance- Implementation of planned preventive maintenance of all the
HVAC/R system as per schedule.
- Repairing
HVAC- diagnose and repair HVAC/R systems in accordance with manufacturing
procedures and manuals. Update records of breakdown and preventative
maintenance.
- Daily
inspection- Make daily rounds inspiring routine HVAC systems and
chillers.
- Installation-
Receive and install new HVAC/R as per manufactures recommendation
- Training-
Train users on how to use HVAC/R systems, handling and safety. Recommend
users on ways they can lower energy use.
- Assist
in Procurement – Inform superiors of HVAC/R breakdown and inform them of
the parts / required. Liaise between HVAC/R equipment vendors and the
hospital for breakdown and preventive maintenance
- Keep
daily logs- Constantly monitor and record HVAC critical equipment
uptime.
- Continuous
improvement- Utilize Kaizen principles and JCIA to continuously improve
the efficiency and reduce running cost of HVAC.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, Brand &
Communications, the jobholder will ensure business growth and development by
leading the process of prospecting, negotiating and closing new revenue streams
for B2B and B2C accounts whilst retaining existing customers by maintaining
positive client relationships in support of the hospital’s growth
strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Business
Development – Will develop, implement, and deliver business development
targets as per the sales plan by mapping and reviewing prospects,
attending pitch meetings and reviewing engagement contracts. The jobholder
will also conduct regular need-based market research to gather relevant
data in order to analyse products, services, competition and trends.
- Client
Relationship Management – Will establish and maintain business
