EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR INTERNSHIP POSITIONS – THE SIAYA NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC

The Siaya National Polytechnic (TSNP) is a public TVET institution operating under the TVET Act No. 29 of 2013 in the State Department of Vocational and Technical Training, Ministry of Education, Kenya. It is located in Siaya Town along the Siaya–Rang’ala Road.

TSNP invites applications from suitably qualified individuals with excellent credentials to fill the following internship positions.


Available Internship Positions

1. Assistant Librarian – Library Department (1 Position)

Qualification:

  • Diploma in Library Studies, Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to library section queries.
  • Charge and discharge library materials.
  • Handle reservation of information materials.
  • Maintain library statistical records and microfilming services.
  • Enforce library rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Issue reminders for overdue library materials.
  • Select information materials for acquisition.
  • Shelve and re-shelve library collections.

2. ICT Technician – Computing and Informatics Department (1 Position)

Qualification:

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Business Information Technology, ICT, Computer Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ICT equipment and peripherals.
  • Maintain data protection systems.
  • Install and support servers.
  • Install and deploy relevant hardware and software.
  • Provide user support services.
  • Prepare technical, system and user documentation.

3. Laboratory Technician – Applied Sciences Department (1 Position)

Qualification:

  • Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Biology, or related field.
  • Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and arrange practical sessions in liaison with lecturers.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in workshops or laboratories.
  • Take care of equipment, machines and tools.
  • Keep records of issued laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Ensure proper installation, maintenance and repair of laboratory tools.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and materials.
  • Ensure safety in laboratories at all times.
  • Prepare work instruction sheets for laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare individual work plans.

4. Cook – Catering Department (1 Position)

Qualification:

  • Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Valid Certificate of Health for Food Handlers.
  • Skills in food presentation, kitchen management, customer service and cooking techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cut and wash raw foods using appropriate tools.
  • Cook and prepare a variety of meals.
  • Identify and report defects in kitchen equipment or food supplies.
  • Prepare meals following standard procedures.
  • Review menus and assemble food supplies for daily preparation.
  • Set up and prepare equipment for food production.

Terms and Conditions

Successful candidates will be appointed on a one-year internship basis under the prevailing terms and conditions of the Governing Council of The Siaya National Polytechnic.
