JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this assignment is to support the delivery of
policy and research projects under Amnesty Kenya’s technology and human rights
program. The successful candidate will join our Technology & Human Rights
team working to strengthen data governance in Kenya and on digital rights for
children and young people.
Background:
Amnesty International is a Nobel Peace Prize-winning global
movement of over 10 million people committed to campaigning and action to
improve human rights standards enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution and
International Law. Amnesty International Kenya envisions a place where every

national laws, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other
international human rights instruments.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Tech & Human Rights Officers, Researcher, Communications
Unit, and relevant IS global thematic staff.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tech & Human Rights Intern will:
- Support
the delivery and implementation of impactful technology & human rights
programs.
- Support
the design and delivery of qualitative and quantitative research projects
in data governance and digital rights.
- Support
on data analysis, visualization, and reporting to support evidence-based
advocacy efforts.
- Support
in designing imaginative and authoritative knowledge products on data
governance and digital rights.
- Undertake
scheduling of technology and human rights meetings, workshops,
appointments, and other related activities.
- Provide
logistical and administrative support for program related activities and
requirements.
- Attend
program related activities and draft reports.
- Perform
other tasks as may be reasonably assigned..
REQUIREMENTS:
- At
least a first degree in law or human rights.
- Excellent
research, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated
knowledge and understanding of technology and human rights.
- Attention
to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong
organizational, planning, and administrative skills, with the ability to
work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous
experience or familiarity with human rights NGO work is desirable but not
required.
