Electrical Intern at Globeleq
Main Purpose of Role
The Electrical Intern will support preventive, predictive,
and corrective maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment at the
Menengai Geothermal Power Plant.
Working under the supervision of the Electrical Engineer,
the Intern will gain practical exposure to generators, transformers, switchgear
(LV, MV, HV), protection systems, motors, UPS systems, battery systems, and
auxiliary plant equipment. The role contributes to maintaining high plant
availability, minimizing parasitic load, ensuring equipment reliability, and
maintaining full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The Intern will operate within Globeleq’s HSESS framework
and in compliance with PPA, PISSA, LTSA, and O&M contractual requirements.
Under supervision, the Intern shall support the following:
- Preventive
& Predictive Maintenance
- Assist
in execution of scheduled preventive maintenance on generators,
transformers, motors, switchgear (LV/MV/HV), UPS systems, and battery
systems.
- Support
condition monitoring activities including insulation resistance testing,
thermography, and basic trend analysis.
- Participate
in planned maintenance tasks during minor and major outages.
- Corrective
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Assist
in troubleshooting electrical faults and restoring equipment to service.
- Support
root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical failures.
- Interpret
technical drawings, schematics, and protection settings under supervision.
- Operations
Support
- Participate
in switching activities under strict supervision and in accordance with
approved switching procedures and safety rules.
- Ensure
compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) systems.
- Documentation
& Compliance
- Maintain
accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and test documentation
in the CMMS.
- Support
update of electrical drawings and technical documentation where required.
- Ensure
full compliance with HSESS standards and electrical safety regulations.

- Diploma
or Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics (Power
Option), or related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Must

Instrumentation and Control Intern at Globeleq
Main Purpose of Role
The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Intern will
support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
of plant instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS), protection systems,
and associated control equipment within the Menengai Geothermal Power Plant.
The role provides structured hands-on exposure during both
the construction/commissioning phase and the transition into operations. The
Intern will work under the supervision of the Instrumentation and Control
Engineer and in accordance with Globeleq’s HSESS framework, as well as EPC,
PISSA, PPA, LTSA, and O&M requirements.
This internship is designed to build practical competence in
geothermal power plant automation and control systems while contributing to
plant safety, availability, and operational performance.
Under supervision, the Intern shall support the following
activities:
Installation & Commissioning
- Assist
in installation and configuration of instrumentation devices (pressure,
temperature, level, flow transmitters, analysers, sensors, gauges, etc.).
- Participate
in loop checks and tests, signal validation, and functional testing of
control systems.
- Support
DCS hardware and software configuration activities.
- Assist
in generator protection system and switchgear control system testing.
Maintenance & Overhaul Support
- Participate
in minor and major overhauls where applicable.
- Support
planned preventive maintenance of DCS, instrumentation, and control
systems.
- Perform
routine inspections, calibration, and verification of field instruments.
- Assist
in troubleshooting instrumentation faults and DCS platform issues.
Monitoring & Performance Support
- Collect
and analyse instrumentation data to verify accuracy and reliability.
- Support
identification of abnormal trends and report technical deviations.
- Assist
in implementing corrective actions under supervision.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare
calibration reports, maintenance logs, and commissioning documentation.
- Maintain
accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure
strict adherence to HSESS, PTW, and LOTO procedures.
- Comply
with all statutory, regulatory, and company requirements.

be based at our Malindi Solar Power Plant in Langobaya, Malindi
Subcounty.
This is a 12-month internship running from 2nd January
to 31st December 2026.
Job Description

report to the Social Manager and HSE Officer or to any other person
appointed to supervise you from time to time.
