About the role
The Global Technical Lead (GTL) will lead the provision of
high-quality technical support for a multi-country programme focused on
enhancing digital skills and employment opportunities for young people with
disabilities. This pivotal role will also champion workplace and labour market
disability inclusion across seven countries in East, West, and Southern Africa.
The GTL will ensure that the programme is designed and
implemented in alignment with Sightsavers thematic and programme strategies,
and will play a key role in shaping innovative, inclusive approaches that drive
systemic change and promote sustainable impact.
This is full time, in person role, with the post holder
expected to work from the Sightsavers’ office in either Abuja, Accra, Lusaka or
Nairobi five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide
strategic technical leadership for a multi-country programme focused on
digital skills development and employment for young people with
disabilities, while advancing disability inclusion within workplaces and labour
markets across East, West, and Southern Africa.
- Collaborate
closely with fellow Global Technical Leads and implementing partners to
ensure cohesive, high-impact delivery of programme objectives.
- Drive
innovation by shaping and piloting new strategic initiatives that enhance
the quality, relevance, and sustainability of Sightsavers’ work.
- Contribute
to cross-organisational efforts in research, innovation, policy, advocacy,
and communications, working in partnership with internal teams and
external stakeholders.
- Represent
Sightsavers at senior level as a subject matter expert in digital
inclusion and the digital economy, participating in national, regional,
and international networks, conferences, and sector platforms.
Jobholder Requirements
Essential:
- Master’s
degree or higher (PhD preferred) in digital economy, digital policy,
digital or economic sociology, political economy, development studies,
global labour studies, or a related subject or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable
understanding of current debates and issues in AI and digital
technologies, and the implications for skills, employment, decent work and
labour markets in African and Global South contexts.
- Experience
of leading and developing programmes on digital skills, training and
transition to employment, especially in the global South
- Experience
working within NGO or non-profit contexts, including managing donor-funded
programmes.
- Proven
ability to engage with a wide range of labour market stakeholders,
especially the private sector, to improve employment and decent work
outcomes.
- Strong
understanding of current developments in AI and digital technologies and
their implications for employment and labour markets in African and Global
South contexts.
- Excellent
spoken and written English, with the ability to produce detailed reports
and deliver presentations.
- Strong
analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to plan from
both programmatic and organisational perspectives.
- Excellent
leadership, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills, with diplomacy
and tact.
- Experience
working on TVET systems.
- Previous
experience of engaging with tripartite labour market stakeholders,
especially the private sector and especially in digital sectors, to
improve employment and decent work outcomes.
- Proven
ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively within
diverse teams.
- Experience
developing and adapting technical guidance and programming tools.
- A
clear commitment to disability inclusion, equality, and justice in digital
and employment spaces.
- Willingness
and ability to travel internationally for up to 12 weeks per year.
Desirable:
- Experience
in advocacy for marginalised groups, particularly in disability inclusion.
- Proficiency
in French.
Programme Manager Kenya – Digital Futures at Sightsavers
As Programme Manager for Kenya, you will implement and lead
the Digital Futures programme in country. Reporting to the Digital Futures
Programme Manager, you will ensure that programme interventions strengthen
digital and IT skills training, promote inclusive employment pathways, and
advance disability inclusive practices across public and private sector
institutions.
Responsibilities
As Programme Manager Kenya – Digital Futures, you will:
- Provide
overall leadership, planning, and coordination of the Digital Futures
programme in Kenya
- Ensure
high quality execution of digital, IT, and entrepreneurship training
in collaboration with IT Bridge Academies and training providers
- Oversee
community outreach, mobilisation, recruitment, and onboarding of young
people with disabilities into the programm
- Manage
relationships with all implementing partners, including OPDs, training
institutions, digital academies, and private sector actors
- Provide
technical backstopping and capacity building support on disability
inclusion, safeguarding and inclusive employment
- Develop
employer capacity building pathways on disability inclusion and inclusive
HR practices
- Oversee
linkage of programme participants to mentorship, internships,
apprenticeships, and employment opportunities
- Lead
budget preparation, oversight, ensuring alignment between expenditure and
donor/organisational financial procedure
- Provide
strategic oversight for data collection, validation, analysis, and
reporting in line with MEAL frameworks
Skills and Experience
- Solid
experience in programme management within INGOs, social impact programmes,
youth employment, or digital skills development initiatives.
- Proven
experience leading digital skills, employability, entrepreneurship, or
labour market programmes.
- Strong
experience in skills development, employer engagement,
internships/placements, and disability inclusion.
- Experience
in working with OPDs, persons with disabilities and other actors in the
disability sector and on gender intersectionality.
- Experience
engaging youth, TVET institutions, digital academies, employers, and OPDs.

Administrative Assistant at Sightsavers
About the role
Sightsavers Kenya office is seeking an experienced
Administrative Assistant to be responsible for the front office and for
supporting other services. The Administrative Assistant will greet visitors and
staff, and complete various administrative tasks to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
As the Administrative Assistant you will:
Front office duties
- Answer,
screen and forward incoming phone calls.
- Ensure
reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and
material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures).
- Provide
basic and accurate information in-person and
via phone/email.
- Maintain
office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via
the reception desk (monitor logbook, opening
office door).
Office support services
- Facilitate
travel needs of staff and visitors as needed in collaboration with the
office driver and with taxi companies and /or travel agencies.
- Coordinate
the travel and accommodation of foreign staff and visitors to Kenya in
conjunction with the head office travel department. This includes travel
visas as and when needed, arranging airport transfers, ensuring
accommodation, meals and any other visitor requirements are attended to.
- Make
requisitions for small petty cash payments to staff/or suppliers with
relevant approvals and call on suppliers to collect cheque payments.
- Facilitate
meetings at the office or hosted by Sightsavers outside the office by
ensuring adequate amenities (coffee, teas, lunches) are in place.
- Take
minutes during meetings as and when requested.
- Facilitate
an effective working environment by ensuring timely opening of the office and
ensuring that all essential services (utilities, internet, telephone),
supplies, stationery and amenities are available to staff and visitors as
needed.
Procurement
- Liaise
with Admin Officer for office procurement
requirements.
- Request
various supplies on behalf of staff as requested.
- Maintain
stock for office supplies and replenish when required.
Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate you
will possess experience in a similar admin role, and/or hold a
tertiary qualification in Front Office Management or
Administration (At least a Diploma).

meetings, staff travel, seminars and other project related
activities.

Project Finance Officer at Sightsavers
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Project Finance
Officer to join our Kenya Country Office and support the Programme
Manager and partners with project financial management.
Responsibilities
- As the
Project Finance Officer, you will be responsible
for the day-to-day financial management of assigned
projects by preparing and maintaining project budgets,
capturing transactions in the SUN system,
and identifying & supporting all project procurement
needs.
Further duties and responsibilities include:
- Donor
Budget Management & Reporting
- Work
with the project team to ensure that all donor-related information is disseminated to project, finance and logistics staff
as well as partners to enable them to abide by donor rules and
regulations.
- In
coordination with project staff and partners prepare and regularly
update the spending plan in
line with the project planned activities.
- Review
payment schedule for the project and cash flow needs are catered for.
Financial Management
- Reviewing
transactions in the organisation accounting system monthly, to ensure they are correctly coded, accurately captured and have clear
descriptions.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments/payees on the S2B platform.
- Monitor
bank balances through regular updating of the excel cash book in line with the project financial plans to minimize risks of cash depletion.
- On a
monthly basis prepare Budget Versus
Actual reports and send to FSSM and to other relevant staff. The
expenditure report should include a brief commentary on matters arising as identified from the report to highlight on budget lines that are at risk of under/overspends.
- Prepare
quarterly financial report as per donor requirements, ensuring it is complete, accurate and produced on a timely basis to
ensure adequate review, approval and submission to the
Project Manager.
- Prepare
and consolidate monthly invoice and expense projection. Analyse differences of the projections and actual
spending and submit adjustments as required.
- Ensure
financial reports are produced in compliance with donor’s exchange rate policies,
including keeping track of expenditure in currencies other than GBP and identifying the rate at which they need
to be converted into GBP.
Programme Management
- Prepare
project reports and
share with the programme team as requested for decision making.
- Ensuring accurate coding of project
expenditures (restricted funding).
- Prepare
and consolidate monthly invoice and
expense, analyse differences between projections and actual spending and produce analytical
reports to inform decision making by program implementers.
- Receive
and review periodic reports for all partner,
liquidate the eligible costs and take relevant action on
the expenses, identifying ineligible and/or
disallowed expenses and bring these to the attention of the FSSM as well
as the Programs Manager.
- Conduct
periodic review of local partner internal controls and policies and advice
on strengthening as necessary.
- Review
partner reports against key indicators taking appropriate action where necessary.
Procurement
- Source
for quotations and conduct analyses of the quotations for review by FSSM.
- Follow
the projects’ Value for Money strategies.
- Process
procurement needs in PSC
and Proactis systems.
- Work
with the administration team to ensure a project asset register
is maintained and updated accordingly.
Skills and Experience
- As the
successful candidate you will have a Bachelor’s degree in
finance/accounting and hold a professional accounting
qualification.
- You
will also possess extensive working experience in a similar
role, ideally within an INGO environment, and have
experience financial management, programme & project management and administration.

Programme Officer at Sightsavers

employability program across seven countries in Africa. The program’s central
aim is to improve access to dignified and fulfilling employment for young
people with disabilities across Africa, with a strong focus on young
women. By providing market-aligned training, seed funding, and engaging with
key stakeholders, the programme seeks to dismantle barriers to participation in
the digital economy and promote inclusive workforce practices.
The Programme Officer will play a crucial role implementing
this programme in Kenya. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate
exceptional project implementation within NGO/INGOs, social impact, skills
development or youth empowerment in Kenya. You will confidently manage
stakeholder and partner engagement and have good knowledge and experience of
disability inclusion, gender equality principles and inclusive employment
principles.
