Job purpose

The EY Kenya International Tax and Transaction Services practice is looking to hire an experienced Manager to join a team that provides cross-border, mergers & acquisitions and business laws advisory and support to a host of clients, the market as well as assisting with regulatory policy.

The Manager will lead and manage multiple cross-border and mergers & acquisitions engagements, work with other tax professionals in operations of the tax practice and generally manage and counsel junior staff.

The candidate will report to the partners.

Duties and responsibilities will include the following:  

Duties:

  • Lead and manage cross-border and mergers & acquisitions engagements;
  • Co-ordinate and manage and counsel a team of staff on assignments and assess their performance;
  • Work with other global EY colleagues;
  • Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent services;
  • Provide innovative administrative improvement;

Key requirements

  • At least 7 years of in-depth mergers & acquisitions and cross-border advisory experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of tax laws and practice;
  • Demonstrable business acumen;
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary
  • Strong team player
  • Developed commercial awareness with an outcome orientated approach and the ability to apply legal principles pragmatically

Key academic Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in legal or business field with a minimum of Upper Second-class honours or its equivalent.

Key responsibilities:

  • A minimum overall grade of a B in KCSE and B in both English and Mathematics
  • At least four years of transaction work experience
  • Entrepreneurial mind set and business acumen
  • Passion for helping clients achieve their potential
  • Able to analyse financial and non-financial information to formulate views and conclusions
  • Familiar with fundamental concepts of accounting including IFRS
  • Good presentation skills
  • Possess data analysis & critical thinking skills with a flair in MS Excel applications

Ideally, you’ll also have (not compulsory but highly advantageous) 

  • MBA, Master in finance or other relevant masters degree
