Junior Graphic Designer at World Resources Institute (WRI)
Junior Graphic Designer, Communications
This is a hybrid position that requires 8 days per month
in the office. You will be based in our office in Nairobi,
Kenya. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application
submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this
position.
Job Highlight:
In this role, you will work with both the Core Comms creative team and the WRI
Africa communications team to support programs and internal clients in their
design projects. This position requires very fine attention to detail and an
ability to juggle multiple high-profile projects at the same time. You will
report to the Senior Project Manager on the Core Communications team and to the
Communications & Engagement Director, Africa. You will be based in Nairobi,
Kenya.
What you will do:
Design and produce communications materials for WRI
programs (80%)
- Lay
out knowledge products (reports, issue briefs, working papers…)
- Lay
out communications products (brochures, two-pagers, posters…)
- Build
and package graphics for WRI’s institutional blog and social media
platforms
- Build
and design presentations in PowerPoint
Support institutional projects (20%)
- Support
the WRI Africa communications, development and human resources teams with
their design needs
- Support
the Core Communications team for Institute-wide communications efforts
- Attend
weekly and month team meetings and contribute to the group life of the
team
What you will need:
- A
degree in visual communications or graphic design is desirable. However,
other degrees with communication or visual arts are also useful. Relevant
work experience in lieu of degree is accepted.
- You
have a 1-3 years’ full-time relevant work experience.
- Proficiency
with the Adobe Creative Cloud software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator,
etc.
- Experience
with Canva, Asana and Figma would be a bonus
- Ability
to share creative and new ideas while being open to feedback on these
suggestions
- Ability
to work through multiple iterations of each project
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to
communicate with a wide range of individuals
- Flexibility
and the ability to work under quick deadlines
Existing work authorization is required where this position
is based. WRI is unable to support visa applications.
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable
factors.
