Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Team leadership and supervision of cashiers and packers
  • Cash register control and cash handling oversight
  • Refunds, voids, and cashier discrepancy management
  • Customer checkout flow and wait-time management
  • Front-end cleanliness, organization, and supplies control
  • Monitoring for fraud and suspicious activities
  • Loss prevention at checkout points
  • Transaction monitoring to prevent staff-customer collusion
  • POS operations support and checkout supervision 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous retail or customer service experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and resolve customer issues
  • Proficiency in POS systems and cash management
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of POS operations and procedures

Education:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, or a related Business Course

Powerstar Supermarkets is hiring Branch Accountants to support financial operations at branch level in Nairobi.

About the Role

Powerstar Supermarkets is seeking an entry-level Accountant to support end-to-end accounting processes and assist with financial accounting functions.

The ideal candidate should have up to one year of experience (preferred) and demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and strong technical accounting knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile all branch financial records and reports
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and budgets
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Assist with audits and tax preparations
  • Analyze financial data to support business decisions
  • Support month-end closing processes
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist in general ledger maintenance
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes related to staff costs

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA (2), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and financial accounting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Dynamics 365); other systems knowledge is an added advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
