We’re Hiring: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Westlands, Nairobi
Reports to: Head of Architecture
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that support analytics, business intelligence, and data science initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable data architectures (data lakes, warehouses, streaming)
• Own end-to-end data pipelines with a focus on reliability, observability, and cost efficiency
• Develop and maintain robust data models for analytics and reporting
• Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers
• Optimize data pipelines and query performance
• Ensure data governance, quality, security, and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement of the data platform
Qualifications & Experience:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
✔ 5+ years’ experience in data or backend engineering
✔ Strong skills in Python (or Scala/Java) and SQL
✔ Experience with Spark, Airflow/dbt, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
✔ Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub)
✔ Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
