The key duties and responsibilities entail:
1. Seeking and disserminating knowlwedge through research, publication,
teaching and supervision of students doing project research, grant seeking and
curriculum development so as to contribite to the mandate of the University.
2. Developing fundable research proposals that can attract grants from internal
and external donors.
3. Coordinating research in collaboration with local, regional and
international collaborators in order to tackle different issues in the society.
4. Desserminating research findings through publication of journals to share
findings and knowledge to the public.
5. Training, mentoring, supervising and evaluating students carrying out
research to ensure the quality of research submitted is of high standards.
6. Reviewing research proposals in the University to ensure they can attract
grants.
7. Providing consultancy services to solve community challenges and contribute
to development of society at large.
8. Acquiring patents from innovations to protect knowledge and and ensure
proper benefits to the innovators including the University.
9. Liaising with teaching, technical and administrative staff members to ensure
and monitor quality course delivery.
10. Developing adaptable teaching delivery models to ensure that learning is
effective and continuous.
11. Carrying out course assesment and examine students to test understanding of
learned concepts and allow progression from one level to another.
12. Identify required learning resource materials such as books to enhance
quality teaching.
13. Developing practical modules/manuals in line with developed curriculummto
enhance practical applications of learned concepts.
14. Initiate community participatory development projects and activities that
benefit the University as well as the community at large.
15. Showcasing innovations of the University during community exhibitions.
16. Establishing linkages and networks with external stakeholders that can fund
projects/research in the University.
17. Offering leadership in preparation of course outlines to ensure that the
relevant syllabus is covered.
18. Preparing course modules to ensure that teaching delivery is according to
the best practices in the market.
19. Supervising post graduate students when carrying out their research
projects and writing their thesis to ensure they come up with projects that can
attract grants.
20. Carrying out administrative duties in the relevant department or school and
ensure that everything runs smoothly.
21. Providing career guidance and counselling to students on matters that
relate to area of expertise.

advice on study skill and help students with learning problems to improve their

17. Undertaking cosultancies with local and international organizations within

A. DIVISION OF CORPORATE SERVICES
1. POST OF ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT GRADE 9 (FORMERLY GRADE 7) – REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/1/7/2025 – 1 POSITION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract
- Job specification
The duties and responsibilities shall entail assisting in:
- Documenting
and ensuring proper record keeping for events, activities and operations
in in respective Divisions/Schools/ Departments/Sections.
- Collecting,
compiling and analyzing of data.
- Ensuring
general cleanliness in offices and meeting rooms.
- Maintaining
records of University assets in respective areas.
- Overseeing
telephone and registry services in respective Divisions/Schools/
Departments/Sections.
- Drafting
reports and briefs.
- Drafting
of budgets and procurement plans.
- Making
requisitions for office stationery, equipment and furniture and other
required materials.
- Ensuring
security of records, stationery, office equipment furniture etc.
- Coordinating
transport and logistics for in respective Divisions/Schools/
Departments/Sections.
- Offering
secretariat services to university committees.
b. Person Specification
For appointment to this grade a candidate must:
- Have Bachelors
Degree or equivalent from an accredited and recognized university.
- Be a
Member of a recognized professional body (where applicable).
- Have
knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Have
proficiency in computer applications.
- Satisfy
the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on
Leadership and Integrity.
2. POST OF ASSISTANT COUNSELING OFFICER GRADE 9 (FORMERLY GRADE 7) – REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/2/7/2025 – 1 POSITION – WOTE CAMPUS
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract
- Job specification
The duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:
- Handling
students’ issues concerning their social life by offering guidance and
counselling in order to correct their undesirable behaviors.
- Conducting
guidance and counselling sessions in order to address arising social
issues such as misuse of drugs as a preventive measure and stopping
further addiction to drugs.
- Organizing
talks for students in areas already identified as need areas through
sourcing for relevant speakers to address and offer public lectures to
students so as to equip them with the relevant knowledge and information
for more informed decisions.
- Maintaining
consistent follow-up with the students in order to see to it that the
positive change in behavior obtained is sustained and factors that would
lead to re-occurrence of the helped issue are dealt with.
- Referring
students who require specific attention to the appropriate service
provider such as drug addicts who require rehabilitation services so as to
exhaustively assist the students recover from the maladjustment.
- Providing
spiritual guidance to students.
b. Person Specification
For appointment to this grade, one must:
- Must
possess Bachelor Degree in Counselling, Social Sciences, Education or its
equivalent from an accredited and recognized university.
- Be a
member of a counsellors’ body such as Kenya Counselors and Psychologists
Association or Kenya Universities Psychologists and Counsellors
Association.
- Have
professional/discipline specific knowledge of theory and techniques in a
specialized field, or knowledge of a number of fields acquired through
tertiary education and /or considerable experience.
- Be
computer proficient and conversant with use of an ERP system.
- Satisfy
the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership
and Integrity upon successful appointment.
3. POST OF PRINCIPAL CLERICAL OFFICER Grade 11 (FORMERLY GRADE 5) – REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/3/7/2025 – 1 POSITION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 months renewable contract

Specifications
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
- Verifying
compiled statistical records for accuracy;
- Processing
of human resource records and accounting transaction;
- Maintaining
efficient filing system;
- Safe
custody of invoices, receipts, vouchers and related records;
- Processing
appointments, promotions, discipline cases, transfers and other related
duties in human resource management;
- Preparing
payment vouchers;
- Computing
financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of
information;
- Drafting
routine correspondences;
- Drafting
indents for advertisement;
- Assisting
Administrative officers/Assistnts in matters clerical work; and
- Mentoring
and guiding other junior clerical officers.
b. Person Specifications
For appointment to this
grade, an officer must:
- Have a
Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management,
Supply Management, Records Management, Business Administration or Kenya
Accountants and Technicians Certificate (KATC), Intermediate level of
Kenya Administration and Management Examination (KAME), offered by Kenya
Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) or an
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- KCSE D
Plus or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Have
at least eight (8) years relevant working experience;
- Be of
proven integrity, transparency and accountability;
- Be
Proficient in computer applications.;
- Have
demonstrated professional competence in discharging the Clerical work; and
- Meet
the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on
Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
