Head of ICT at VisionFund Kenya

The Head of ICT is tasked with leading and coordinating the development of a forward-thinking, world-class ICT strategy for VFK. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role focuses on ensuring that the ICT strategy is closely aligned with VFK’s overall business goals and continuously adapts to the evolving needs of the organization and its various units. The position also involves conducting research and advising management on emerging technologies and trends that could add value to VFK.

Additionally, the role provides strategic direction in designing and implementing a secure, innovative, and business-oriented ICT framework that supports VisionFund Kenya’s mission and operational priorities, while ensuring the efficient performance of all ICT systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Advise the CEO and Senior Management on ICT strategy and infrastructure.
  • Identify and recommend emerging technologies to enhance organizational performance.
  • Participate in leadership and strategic decision-making forums.

2. ICT Strategy, Planning & Budgeting

  • Develop and implement the ICT strategy aligned to business goals.
  • Prepare and manage the ICT annual budget ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee delivery of ICT projects and services across the organization.
  • Lead ICT capacity building and staff training initiatives.

3. ICT Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and enforce ICT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure data protection, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Oversee ICT documentation and resource management.

4. ICT Operations & Systems Management

  • Manage ICT infrastructure, systems, and user support services.
  • Ensure high system availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Supervise and mentor ICT staff.
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of systems, including loan tracking systems.

5. Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO.

  • Approved and implemented ICT strategy and annual plan.
  • ICT budget adherence and cost optimization.
  • System uptime and service availability.
  • Effective ICT risk management and data security.
  • User satisfaction and support responsiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).

Professional Qualifications

  • Relevant ICT certifications (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, CISSP, CISA, PMP) are an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in ICT, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in ICT strategy development and implementation.
  • Experience in financial services or microfinance sector is an added advantage.
  • Strong background in ICT governance, cybersecurity, and systems management.

SOCIAL MEDIA & GRAPHICS SUPPORT INTERN

Reports to: Communications Officer

We are recruiting a creative, energetic, and digitally savvy intern with strong graphic design and content creation skills. He/she will support the Communications Officer in producing engaging visuals and social media content that boosts brand visibility and drives audience interaction. From designing graphics to managing posts and contributing to digital campaigns, you’ll play a key role in enhancing our online presence and making VFK top-of-mind across social platforms.

The holder of this position will focus on and deliver the following key responsibilities:

  • Support the Communications Officer in creating and scheduling social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, X, etc.).
  • Design visually appealing graphics, templates, reels, and short videos that reflect the VFK brand.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to comments, direct messages, and queries on all VFK social media channels.
  • Contribute to increasing engagement (likes, comments, shares, saves) and building an active online community.
  • Assist in developing creative campaigns to drive brand excitement and awareness.
  • Monitor trending topics and suggest ways to incorporate them into VFK’s content strategy.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice and visual identity across all posts.
  • Help track content performance metrics (engagement rates, audience growth) and recommend improvements.
  • Support any other communication tasks as assigned by the Communications Officer and Marketing Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Good understanding of social media platforms, trends, and engagement strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain a lively yet professional online tone.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under guidance.
  • Strong graphic design skills (proficient in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with video editing tools like CapCut, InShot, or Adobe Premiere Rush is a plus.
  • Experience managing social media accounts (personal, business, or school projects) and basic photography and videography skills will be a competitive edge.
  • The ideal Candidate should possess a communication, graphics design, or related certificate from a recognized institution.
  • The candidate must be a professing and practicing Christian whose conduct and depth of character are governed by personal Christian convictions.
