team is young, extremely talented, and driven to make an impact.
The Role
Are you ready to kickstart your career in 2026? Do you want
to learn what it takes to run the engine room of a fast growing online
supermarket? Greenspoon is looking for a Graduate Management Trainee to join
our Operations team. This is a hands-on role where you will spend your days on
the warehouse floor, in the cold rooms, on delivery routes, and at the
receiving dock, learning how a complex operation moves thousands of orders to
customers every single day with quality and speed.
Given the phase of the business, start up to scale up, there
are a myriad of interesting operational problems to solve, from cutting picking
errors and improving delivery on time rates, to designing better warehouse
layouts and tightening cold chain quality. The work is very dynamic and
demanding, and working with Greenspoon will be an unforgettable start to your
career.
What You Will Do
You will rotate through the core functions that make up our
Operations team, spending meaningful time in each before specialising:
- Receiving:
inbound goods control, supplier accuracy, putaway, and cold chain
compliance
- Warehousing:
stock accuracy, layout optimisation, replenishment, and storage conditions
- Picking:
order accuracy, productivity per picker, batching strategies, and
substitution rates
- Logistics:
route planning, fleet utilisation, dispatch scheduling, and last mile cost
- Delivery:
on time performance, driver coaching, customer experience at the door, and
returns
- Quality
Operations: food safety, traceability, temperature monitoring, and
continuous improvement audits
In each rotation you will own a real project from start to
finish, present your findings to leadership, and implement the changes yourself
with the team on the ground.
What You Will Learn
- Leadership
and change management methodologies, including Lean and Six
Sigma tools used to remove waste, reduce variation, and run structured
problem solving
- How to
lead and develop frontline teams in a high pressure, fast moving
environment
- Root
cause analysis, process design, and operational KPI management
- How to
translate strategy into daily standards, routines, and team behaviours
We will provide you with training and on the job coaching.
You will have a personal development budget that you can use to pursue further
courses, certifications, or relevant books. The contract is initially for one
year, and if successful we will offer you a permanent role in the Operations
department that best matches your strengths, with a clear path to grow into
team lead, supervisor, and management positions across Receiving, Warehousing,
Logistics, Picking, Delivery, or Quality.
Candidates Should Possess the Following Traits
- Innovative
problem solving: you find creative, practical solutions to messy
operational problems and are not afraid to try new approaches
- Leadership
potential: you can rally a team around a goal, set clear expectations,
and develop the people around you
- Willingness
to speak up: you challenge the status quo respectfully, raise issues
early, and share ideas openly with peers and senior leaders
- Discipline:
you follow through, you show up, and you hold yourself and others to the
standard
- Consistency:
you deliver reliable results day in and day out, especially under pressure
- Strong
communicator: you write and speak clearly, listen well, and can move
easily between the warehouse floor and the management meeting
- Resilience:
Operations at Greenspoon is rewarding but tough, and the standards are
high
- Hands
on attitude: you are happy to be on the floor, in the truck, or in the
cold room, not behind a desk
Qualifications
- Excellent
academic achievement
- Bachelor's
or Master's degree in engineering, supply chain, logistics, business, or a
related field
- 0–2
years work experience
- Comfortable
working early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as the operation
requires
- Ready
to work in a fast-paced, physical environment
- Exposure
to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a
plus, but not required
We are an equal opportunity employer and therefore invite
everyone to apply.

Hiring a Head of Engineering (Tech) at Greenspoon
Head of
Engineering
May 2026
Location: Nairobi (Kenya-based is preferred, but we also welcome international
applicants)
Greenspoon is
Kenya's fastest growing online supermarket, delivering thousands of delicious,
healthy, and fresh groceries directly to our customers' homes every day. We are
building East Africa's largest online supermarket with exceptional service and
quality at an every day price. We pride ourselves on offering the widest range
of organic fruits and vegetables, freshly baked breads, quality meats, and much
more! We delight you with everything that you love and everything that you
need.
We deeply care
about our customers, suppliers, employees, and the environment. We believe this
is the reason we have grown over 15x over the last three years. We embody our
values - honesty, quality, and impact - every day. As a certified B Corp, we
hold the highest global mark of sustainability, placing us in the same league
as brands like Patagonia, Ben & Jerry's, and BrewDog. We are a sustainable
enterprise that is also profitable. We are optimistic about the future and have
strong confidence in our abilities. Our team is young, extremely talented, and
driven to make an impact.
Today we are
looking for a Head of Engineering - someone who combines deep technical
experience with the leadership instincts to drive a high-performing engineering
team. This is a pivotal role at Greenspoon. You will own the delivery of our
technical roadmap, set the bar for engineering quality and execution, and grow
the team around you. You will work closely with the CTO, product, operations,
and leadership to shape what we build and how we build it, while making sure
the systems and the people behind them are strong.
●
Lead
and manage the engineering team day-to-day: running sprints, unblocking
developers, setting priorities, and holding the team accountable to delivery
●
Own
the technical roadmap in partnership with the CTO: translating business goals
into a clear, phased, and achievable engineering plan
●
Mentor
and grow engineers at all levels: fostering a culture of ownership,
craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
●
Architect
and lead development of complex new features, internal tools, and integrations
across front-end, back-end, and logistics systems
●
Drive
improvements to performance, stability, and scalability of existing systems
●
Establish
and champion engineering best practices: code reviews, testing, documentation,
deployment discipline, and incident response
●
Be a
hands-on technical lead when needed: diving into the codebase, reviewing PRs,
responding to incidents and solving hard problems alongside the team
●
Recruit,
onboard, and develop engineering talent as the team grows
●
Communicate
clearly and proactively with leadership and cross-functional teams on progress,
risks, and tradeoffs
●
At
least 7 years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 2 years
in a team lead or engineering management role
●
Proven
track record of leading teams to ship complex products in a B2C environment on
time, at quality, and with clear communication
●
Deep
full-stack technical skills: strong PHP (Laravel or similar), front-end
(Vue.js, React, Flutter), and experience with eCommerce or logistics platforms
●
Experience
with WooCommerce back-ends and ERP systems (Dynamics 365, SAP, or similar)
●
Ability
to move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on technical work. You are
as comfortable in a planning meeting as you are in a code review
●
A
natural coach and mentor: you raise the people around you and take pride in the
team's growth, not just your own
●
Strong
instincts for prioritisation and delivery:
you know what to cut, what to accelerate, and how to keep a team moving
under pressure
●
Clear,
direct communicator who can translate technical complexity to non-technical
stakeholders
●
A
structured problem-solver who takes time to deeply understand operational
processes before designing solutions: you think in systems, not just features
●
Experience
in a fast-paced startup or tech-led business where you have had to build
structure as well as product
●
Someone
who is energised by variety and complexity. Greenspoon moves fast, and no two
weeks look the same
●
Familiarity
with Cloudflare Workers, Elasticsearch, or BigQuery
●
Experience
with M-Pesa or other Payment integrations
●
Background
in grocery, food, or last-mile delivery tech
●
Experience
hiring and growing engineering teams from scratch
What we offer
●
A
front-row seat to what proper scaling looks like inside a fast-moving scale-up,
with real ownership over the systems and decisions that shape it
●
Flexibility
in how and where you work. The role is mostly remote, with time together when
it matters
●
Market-based
compensation that reflects the seniority and impact of the role
● The chance to build alongside a young, driven, and talented team, and to make a tangible impact on people's lives every single day
