Production Manager at Lesaffre

Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will organize day-to-day production operations and guarantee the manufacture of finished goods in accordance with customer requirements. You will also optimize production costs and maintain the industrial equipment while complying with safety regulations, staff working conditions and environmental standards.

Your missions will be:

Production Management

  • Implement daily production forecasts based on production targets & sales forecasts
  • Organize production orders & planning to ensure availability
  • Monitor production, finished goods, and raw materials on a regular basis
  • Monitor consumption of ingredients, investigate the causes of any discrepancies and implement corrective actions accordingly
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and boost productivity and efficiency (lean manufacturing)

Quality, health and safety

  • Implement and ensure safety culture within the production team, in collaboration with the QHSE manager
  • Guarantee the availability of control results, measurements and tests
  • Participate in the choice of suppliers
  • Ensure that product recipes are in accordance with the formulas
  • Ensure that non-conformities and customer complaints are dealt with

Maintenance

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve preventive maintenance tasks
  • Analyze equipment failures and develop permanent solutions
  • Prepare and follow maintenance budget
  • Manage spare part flow and warehouse

Management

  • Manage and supervise Production Supervisor, Operators and Cleaner (schedule, briefing meeting, productivity…)

Investment and Budget

  • Propose technical investment projects for the improvement of production processes
  • Propose and monitor the operating budget
  • Implement diverse projects, in liaison with the Industrial Department

Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports on monthly closings, production plan, inventory levels, and any requests by management

Qualifications

You have at least 5 years of experience in management and production / industry, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in food processing / agro-industrial technology or a similar field. Knowledge on bakery products is a plus.

Technical skills:

  • Strong computer skills: Office 365, SAGE, ERP
  • Knowldege on quality, safety, lean cultures
  • Team management skills (recruitment, AI, labour law, planning)
  • Familiar with project management

Job Description

Reporting to the QSHE Manager, you will contribute to maintaining high standards of quality in all operations and supporting continuous improvement of quality systems at Lesaffre Kenya.

Your missions will be:

  • Performing quality control tests on raw materials, packaging materials and final products
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company standards
  • Conducting daily quality assurance inspections and report any deviations
  • Monitoring and enforcing hygiene standards across all departments
  • Assisting in managing supplier non-conformities and deviations
  • Supporting the customer satisfaction program by tracking issues and ensuring corrective action
  • Conducting internal quality audits
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, audits and corrective actions
  • Supporting the development of quality procedures to strengthen quality systems
  • Assisting in product release for dispatch
  • Participating in pest control activities to maintain a safe production environment
  • Undertaking specific assignments related to Health, Safety and Environment
  • Preparing regular performance and progress reports

Qualifications

Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in food science, industrial chemistry or a related field, you have ideally a first experience of 1 year in quality in the food manufacturing industry.

Technical skills:

  • Ability to identify alternative courses of action when necessary
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including preparation, handling, and storage of food
  • Basic knowledge of quality assurance principles
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, ISO standards and workplace safety practices
