Advocacy & County Coordination Officer at Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK)
The Advocacy and County Coordination Officer will play a
vital role in driving the adoption of clean cooking solutions by advocating for
supportive policies, raising awareness, and building partnerships to create a
more sustainable and equitable energy future.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and Implementing Advocacy Strategies:
- The
Advocacy and County Coordination Officer will create and execute plans to
influence policy and practice related to clean cooking, often focusing on
specific regions or target groups.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Building
and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including
government officials, NGOs, private sector actors, community leaders, and
the public, is crucial.
Raising Awareness:
- The
Advocacy and County Coordination Officer will organize events, develop
communication materials, and leverage media to educate the public about
the importance of clean cooking and its positive impact.
Capacity Building:
- In
some cases, the role may involve strengthening the capacity of local
partners, including grassroots organizations and government agencies, to
implement and advocate for clean cooking solutions.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Tracking
progress against advocacy goals, collecting data, and evaluating the
effectiveness of advocacy efforts is also a key responsibility.
Promoting Clean Cooking Technologies:
- The
Advocacy and County Coordination Officer may also be involved in promoting
specific technologies, such as improved cookstoves, biogas systems, or
other clean cooking solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- A
bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science,
international relations, social science, environmental studies, public
health, or a related field) is usually required.
Experience:
- A
strong track record in advocacy, policy influencing, or related fields is
essential, with atleast two years of continuous work experience on issues
related to energy, environment, or public health.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills are vital for engaging with
diverse audiences and crafting compelling advocacy messages.
Stakeholder Management:
- Demonstrated
ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
is crucial.
Knowledge of the Clean Cooking Sector:
- Familiarity
with the clean cooking landscape, including technologies, policies, and
market dynamics, is often preferred.
Project Management Skills:
- The
ability to plan, implement, and manage advocacy projects, including
budgets and timelines, is essential.
Analytical Skills:
- The
ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop evidence-based
advocacy strategies is important.
