Medical Officer Interns – 4 Positions

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Medical Officer intern will work under supervision to fulfill registration requirements. During this period, the intern will have an opportunity to consolidate their knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them to become a competent practitioner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting themselves in a manner that upholds the dignity of the profession at all times.
  • Conducting timely, legible and accurate  clinical history and physical examination.
  • Documenting all clinical findings and recommendations appropriately, ensuring that the patient records are up to date.
  • Ensure Regular and continuous follow up of patients in the departments assigned to them.
  • Request for and/or performing relevant investigations as directed by the supervisors
  • Reporting to and consulting with the heads of department, Internship Supervisor and the other practitioners in matters patient care as appropriate.
  • Communicating effectively with other health professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participating in surgical procedures under supervision of senior colleagues in the department
  • Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives with regards to diagnosis, treatment plans and follow up.
  • Writing accurate and informative case summaries, referral notes and discharge summaries.
  • Presenting cases concisely, coherently and competently during ward rounds, grand rounds, morbidity and mortality audits or any other appropriate fora.
  • Participate in the clinical audit and documenting findings  in the  audit tools provided by the facility
  • Performing any other relevant duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Promoting the practice of knowledge-based, evidence-based, quality and ethical healthcare.
  • Participating in the Institution’s continuous medical education activities, research and innovation.
  • Providing feedback to the Internship Coordinator, Internship Supervisors, the Institution and the Council on the progress of internship training, with a view of improving the quality of internship training.

The requirements

  • MBChB from a medical school recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
  • Internship License from the KMPDC
  • Valid BLS certificate
  • PALS/ATLS/ACLS Certificates will be an added advantage
  • Evidence of elective term at a medical facility
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in Information and Communication Technology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Open to learning/ Self-driven adult learner
  • Attention to detail and with critical thinking skills

This role involves creating compelling content, managing digital and social media platforms, designing visual materials, and upholding brand consistency across all communication channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote hospital services.
  • Design marketing and patient education materials such as brochures, posters, flyers, and banners presentations, and social media content.
  • Create visual content (graphics, short videos, animations) for use in both digital and print platforms.
  • Build and maintain media relations and act as a liaison with external communication partners when needed.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the successful candidate will ensure provision of effective, efficient, and quality pharmacy services in the Out-reach Health center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and perform prescriptions’ appropriateness reviews and dispense drugs in a timely and accurate manner as per approved standards and procedures.
  • Contact the prescriber and discuss any inaccuracy or illegibility in a prescription, document errors and communicate corrections with other inter- disciplinary team members.
  • Verify expiry dates prior to dispensing medications to patients.
  • Check and confirm that -each label placed on the medication contains the correct patient names & unique identifier, drug & dosage, quantity and directions for use.

Reporting to the Manager Material Management Division, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels and ensuring efficient stock management, in conformity with hospital policy and best practices, to meet the Institution’s goals and objectives.
