Main purpose of job:
The individual will safely perform electrical installations,
planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding,
design, construction and inspection & test to Low Voltage (LV) equipment
& installations across the British High Commission Estate in accordance
with Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) guidance and
standards. The individual is expected to conduct themselves professionally and
uphold the highest standards of electrical installation and safety in all
aspects of their work. This role is critical in maintaining the operational
reliability and safety of electrical and solar systems throughout the estate.
Roles and responsibilities:
Electrician Duties (60%)
- Carry
out planned maintenance, refurbishment works, electrical projects, and
respond to electrical faults and breakdowns in a timely and customer
focused manner.
- Execute
all electrical works safely and in line with FCO quality standards,
industry best practice, British Standards, and applicable Kenyan
electrical regulations for LV domestic, commercial, and light industrial
installations. ·
- Take
ownership of electrical tasks and projects assigned to them by the team
lead, including repairs, testing, and reporting, ensuring accurate and
timely completion.
- Perform
electrical testing and produce relevant documentation, including
Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and Electrical
Installation Certificates. · Support colleagues by sharing technical
expertise in electrical design, installation, inspection, and testing.
- Actively
demonstrate and encourage peers in maintaining safe working practices.
- Working
with the head of electrical team, help identify required materials and
prepare work packages for refurbishments, improvements, rewires, and
compliance upgrades to meet FCO standards, BS 7671, and Kenyan
regulations.
Solar Technician Duties – 20%
- Inspect
and monitor system performance, checking all PV modules, inverters,
wiring, and overall energy output.
- Troubleshoot
and maintain grid‑tie inverters, including reading fault codes and
replacing faulty units.
- Perform
electrical maintenance by testing AC/DC wiring, grounding, and protective
devices.
- Inspect
and clean solar panels, checking for damage, hotspots, and shading issues.

- Ensure
safety compliance, verifying structural integrity, protections, and
adherence to electrical regulations. ·
- Conduct
diagnostic tests using tools like multimeters, IV tracers, thermal
cameras, and insulation testers.
- Carry
out corrective maintenance, replacing damaged components and resolving
communication or performance issues.
- Liaise
with technical & non-technical colleagues to provide updates on works
progress in a suitable language that is understood by all parties.
Health and Safety Compliance and Driving (10%):
- Support
the Health & Safety Officer/Team Leader in conducting risk assessments
and ensuring compliance for property-related works.
- Supervise
contractors to ensure strict adherence to approved Risk Assessments and
Method Statements (RAMS)
- Identify
any health & safety related incident or near miss immediately to the
health & safety officer or their designate in case of absence.
- Inspect,
maintain, and correctly use PPE appropriate to assigned tasks.
- Assist
with the transport of materials and personnel across the BHC Estate using
canter/minibus vehicles.
- Ensure
TWG fleet vehicles are kept clean and serviced on schedule.
- Ensure
the assigned vehicle is offloaded and parked in its designated bay after
daily assignments.
Administrative and communication (10%):
- Keep
detailed maintenance records, inspection reports, logs, PPM activities and
documentation of repairs and system performance. Ensure these records are
shared with the team leader in a timely manner.
- Complete
all mandatory learning and development courses on time.
- At
least 3 times a week check email correspondence and all staff messages for
key information and actions.
- Actively
participate in corporate activities which include the option of joining
committees, staff team building, social event planning etc.

Essential qualifications, skills and
experience
- Proven
work experience in electrical installation, repair, electrical safety
regulations and maintenance.

- Competence

Regional Adviser – Central and Rift at British High Commission
Main purpose of job:
The role supports strengthening the UK’s engagement and
impact at county and regional levels by enhancing the BHC’s sub‑national
presence. It supports delivery of the UK‑Kenya Strategic Partnership (2025 –
2030) and Country Business Plan (CBP) by influencing local governance reforms,
advancing development outcomes, and informing UK policy and programming.
The role holder will primarily support our work in Laikipia
(including improving local engagement linked to the British Army Training Unit
Kenya), parts of Isiolo, Samburu, Nyeri, and Meru, with additional support to
selected counties in the North and South Rift (Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo
Marakwet, Narok, and Kajiado). They are expected to spend 70-80% of their time
in Laikipia (Nanyuki). The role will also lead a regional thematic priority-
focusing on defence partnerships, security, climate change and others to be
agreed.
The postholder will provide real‑time political, development
and contextual analysis, spot opportunities and risks, and ensure county‑level
insights shape UK interventions. They will be part of the Democracy, Governance

- Provide
strategic county/regional political, economic, and development insights to

Health Security Adviser at British High Commission Nairobi
Main purpose of job:
The British Office Sudan is looking for a high performing
candidate to push forward the UK government’s engagement in the Sudanese health
sector and take forward implementation of our future direct health investments
on lifesaving humanitarian interventions and Sexual Reproductive Health and
Rights (SHRH), and influence our wider multilateral investments in
strengthening the primary health care landscape, improving vaccination coverage
and increasing disease surveillance capabilities in Sudan.
The FCDO is a leading humanitarian donor in Sudan and wants
to take a more active role than it has done in the past in shaping the future
of health sector. The post-holder will represent the UK in health-focused
interactions with the wider donor community, implementing partners and
authorities in Sudan. This post offers an opportunity to contribute to
delivering better impact and results in one of the most complex and difficult
environments in which the FCDO works.
The British Office Sudan has had long term investments in
strengthening sexual and reproductive health services and we are one the of
largest donors to both the Global Vaccine Alliance and Global Health Fund, both
of which have large programmes in Sudan. We are also looking to work more
closely with the World Bank and African Development Bank on their agenda to
strengthen the primary healthcare landscape. We also ensure want to ensure that
within our humanitarian funding, we actively pursue opportunities to strengthen
disease surveillance and reduce health risks in humanitarian hot spots.
Engagement with multilaterals and a range of centrally
managed FCDO programmes including the WISH 2 Dividend and Ensuring Quality
Access and Learning for mothers and newborns in conflict-affected contexts

Deputy Estates Manager at British High Commission Nairobi
Main purpose of job
The job holder will lead a large and diverse team of
technicians from various disciplines in delivering a safe, fit-for-purpose and
efficient Estate that meets Health and Safety compliance standards of the UK.
They will collaborate with the Deputy Estates Manager – Accommodation in
project delivery and day-to-day running of the Estate.
They’ll use their experience in contstruction, facilities
management and/or health and safety in delivering a programme of works to keep
the High Commission, its offices and residential Estate maintained to high
health and safety standards, escalating any major concerns to the Estates
Manager for guidance. They will work with the UK Technical Works Supervisor’s

The Aviation Security Coordinator (ASCO) for Kenya and
Ethiopia, who will be based at our High Commission in Nairobi, will directly
support the Aviation Security Project Delivery Manager (based in London) in
building and sustaining relationships with the Kenyan and Ethiopian governments
and other key stakeholders on a wide range of aviation security issues in order
to help deliver the Department for Transport’s core objectives of improving
aviation security standards, building effective relationships with stakeholders
at all levels to facilitate this. The Aviation Security Project Delivery
Manager for Kenya and Ethiopia will travel regularly to Kenya and Ethiopia. The
ASCO will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders to arrange meetings for
these visits.
The successful candidate will need excellent administration
