Intern – Practice and Policy Research at United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON)

Responsibilities  

Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Support the review and quality assurance of housing practices submitted to UN-Habitat, including follow-up with country and regional offices and partners as needed.

Consultant – Programme Management at United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON)

Tasks and responsibilities 
Under the supervision of the Task Manager, the Individual Contractor will:

Programme Support

  • Maintain a tracking system to monitor country-level implementation and submission  status to the respective Protocol’s Clearing house mechanisms.

Academic Qualifications:

  • A university degree in environmental science, law, environmental policy, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, or a closely related field is required.

  • Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills is desired.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely is desired. Experience in working with international organizations, particularly the UN system, is an asset. Within delegated authority, the Associate Human Rights Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Participates in discussions with relevant authorities and other influential actors with the aim of addressing human rights violations or seeks other remedial action by the authorities to prevent violations occurring in the future. Liaises with government, NGOs, civil society, UN agencies and other partners to create baseline data on the human rights situation, with special attention to gender and vulnerable groups.
  • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns to inform responses, programmes and projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
