Key Responsibilities
Research Design, Implementation, and Analysis
- Lead
the participatory design and execution of mixed-methods research on the
ecological foundations of agroecology.
- Conduct
stakeholder mapping and ensure all engagement activities are strategically
aligned with agricultural seasons.
- Facilitate
Participatory Action Research (PAR) activities, co-designed with local
communities and partners, to generate actionable evidence.
- Develop
and apply rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches,
including protocol and sampling design, data collection, analysis, and
interpretation.
- Lead
or support multi-stakeholder workshops to co-produce knowledge with
farmers, policymakers, and other actors.
Project Management and Coordination
- Manage
the day-to-day implementation of project activities in close coordination
with partners, ensuring alignment with the overall project work plan and
strategic goals.

progress against project deliverables and milestones, proactively
identifying and mitigating risks.
- Oversee
and synchronize data collection efforts, performance tracking, and the
development of periodic learning reports across the B-REAL project
portfolio.
- Ensure
strict adherence to all internal and donor reporting timelines and
requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Co-Creation
- Lead
the coordination and engagement of a diverse range of stakeholders within
agroecological landscapes (e.g., farmers, community leaders, government
officials, NGOs).
- Organize
and facilitate regular meetings and multi-level (county and national)
workshops designed to foster genuine collaboration.
- Create
an inclusive environment for the co-creation of knowledge and the
development of collaborative action plans.
Dissemination, Communication, and Uptake
- Translate
research findings into practical applications, including the development
of field training modules and trainer guides for various audiences.
- Author
and co-author high-quality scientific publications, policy briefs, and
blog posts to contribute to the global evidence base on agroecology.
- Work
closely with the Agroecology TPP Communications Officer and CIFOR-ICRAF
COE to develop and disseminate communication products (e.g., for social
media, websites, reports) that highlight project activities and outcomes.
- Ensure
research outputs are promptly compiled and published to support
evidence-based decision-making and accelerate agroecological transitions.
Requirements
Education, knowledge and experience:
- Master’s
degree in relevant disciplines (agriculture, agroecology, international
development, sociology, environmental studies, human geography, etc.) with
a strong focus on social science is required.
- Minimum
of 5 years of relevant experience within research projects, NGOs, or
international organizations with a clear focus on food system
transformation and/or agroecology. Thorough knowledge and understanding of
agroecology, including its social and social-movement dimensions is a key
asset for this position.
- Good
connection with key stakeholder involved in agroecological networks and
platforms in Kenya is crucial. Previous working experience in holistic
approaches to measuring agroecology and its performance is mandatory.
Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant at World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)
Duties and responsibilities
- This
consultancy contract will facilitate the review of policy, existing
M&E frameworks, and data landscape, which will inform the development
and alignment of TAPE+ National and the NAS M&E framework, ensuring
they reflect national priorities, align with existing frameworks at
national and county levels, and leverage current data collection efforts.
- Political
feasibility assessment and political economy analysis, exploring
government priorities, stakeholder interests, and potential socioeconomic
impacts of incremental agroecological transitions. This analysis will
identify key levers to support food system transformation and priority
research questions to be addressed through TAPE+ National. These questions
will be co-developed with the technical multi-actor task force and inform
TAPE+ National survey adaptation and selection of a target population.

from other sectors (e.g., health, environment, economy), as well as
county-level M&E plans. This review will be used to ensure that TAPE+
National and the NAS-FST M&E framework align with existing frameworks
at the national and county levels.

detailed document describing all relevant M&E frameworks, the
indicators and methods used for data collection, as well as how data are
stored, processed, and analyzed, as well as which actors play which roles
in these M&E frameworks and their implementation

of practical recommendations to align indicators, methodologies, and
reporting structures.
- Engage
with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and other relevant
institutions to map ongoing data collection efforts, methods used, and
data management practices. This includes national and local datasets, as
well as GIS data, to identify information gaps and opportunities to
utilize existing data through TAPE+ National and the NAS-FST M&E
framework.

Landscape Mapping Gap Analysis Report
- A
comprehensive report that describes in detail the key actors, such as
governmental institutions and universities, identifies missing or
insufficient data management structures needed to effectively monitor and
evaluate food system transformation through TAPE+ National and the NAS-FST
framework.
- Recommendations
for Data System Improvements
- A set
of actionable recommendations to address the identified gaps, e.g, new
data integration initiatives or modules.
- Analyse
international reporting requirements related to CAADP, UNFCCC (NDC), UNCBD
(NBSAP), etc., and determine how these align with and can be incorporated
into TAPE+ National and the NAS-FST M&E framework.
- Analysis

- A

frameworks relevant to food systems.

The Center for International Forestry Research and World

Overview
The Programme/MEL Coordinator will undertake significant
responsibilities across all centre projects, guided by their line manager.
Responsibilities include supporting project management delivery with a focus on
monitoring, reporting, evaluation, accountability and learning (MREAL) for
projects and programmes, including support financial planning, reports
coherence etc., supporting meetings and developing the related action plans
(ensuring that staff complies with the actions), contributing to inter-disciplinary

Senior Accountant – Countries Support at Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF)
The Senior Accountant – Countries Accounting will:
- Support
CIFOR-ICRAF’s country finance functions for the countries reporting to HQ

journals and reconciliations for countries without a finance focal point.
- Assist
the Assistant Finance Manager – General Ledger & Reporting in posting
of countries journals.
Duties and responsibilities
Assist in the accurate recording and review of
CIFOR-ICRAF’s countries’ financial transactions:
- Journalize
payroll costs and other adjustments as they arise.
- Assist
in recording financial transactions for CIFOR-ICRAF countries whose
finance unit has an identifiable gap.
- Assist
in reviewing supporting documentation for payments made in various country
offices ensuring completeness and accuracy; and recording of these
transactions in the financial system affecting both bank and petty cash.
- Perform
an initial review of the transactions journalized by Country
Accountants/Officers before posting.
- Follow-up
to ensure returns for countries without access to OCS are provided at
least weekly to avoid bulking of transactions at the end of the month.
- Follow-up
on balance sheet reconciliations liaising with the Country
Accountants/Officers and ensure the balances are up to date.
Assurance of correctness and accuracy of CIFOR-ICRAF’s
countries’ financial transactions:
- Reviewing
and posting of all payment journals; ensuring due diligence is observed
while processing the accounting journals.
- Providing
the required assurance that all accounting entries passed in the general
ledger are free of any material misstatements.
- Ensuring
proper accruals are done and subsequently cleared.
- Post
payment run confirming the accuracy of the amounts, currency, bank code in

Country accounting oversight:
