Intern – Blue Economy Committee
Objective of the Assignment
To support the Council of Governors’ Blue Economy Committee
in coordinating inter-county priorities, strengthening policy advocacy, and
enhancing implementation and tracking of devolved sector functions.
Scope of Work / Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will work under the supervision of the Principal
Program Officer and will undertake the following tasks:
- Consolidate
and prepare county position briefs on agriculture, livestock, and Blue
Economy issues.
- Conduct
policy analysis and support development of CoG submissions on national
legislation, policies, and regulations.
- Prepare
Committee meeting documentation, including agendas, minutes, resolutions,
and action trackers.
- Track
and compile implementation progress of key programmes (e.g., KEMSFED,
NAVCDP, FSRP, and other sector initiatives) across counties.
- Support
coordination of stakeholder engagements, including intergovernmental
consultations and partner meetings.
- Document
and develop knowledge products such as case studies, best practices, and
county success stories.
- Organize
and maintain a structured repository/database of sector documents, data,
and county submissions.
- Undertake
research to inform preparation of briefs, opinion pieces, presentations,
and talking points for the Committee.
- Assist
in logistical and administrative arrangements for Committee meetings,
workshops, and field activities.
- Perform
any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Duration of the Internship
The internship will be for a duration of six (6) months with
possible extension for another six months owing to performance of the intern
and availability of funds.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Degree
in Fisheries and Aquaculture Management, Coastal and Marine Resources
Management or Agriculture Resource Management, Natural Resource
Management.
- Demonstrate
interest or exposure to agriculture, livestock, Blue Economy, or
devolution.
- Experience
in research, data analysis, or report writing is an added advantage.
- Knowledge
and understanding of government related processes especially within the
context of Devolution.
- Outstanding
Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability
to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail.
- A high
level of computer literacy and proficient in written and spoken English
and Kiswahili.
- Ability
to work independently and as part of a team.

Intern – Education Committee at Council of Governors
SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT
Support the Education Committee in implementing the
committee workplan, monitoring emerging trends and best practices, and
providing technical support to Counties with respect to early childhood
development, pre-primary education, vocational training, skills development,
and children matters.
The specific duties and responsibilities will include:
- Assist
in the implementation of the Education Committee workplan.
- Analysis,
review and monitoring of all policies and legislation at National and
County levels relating to the Education Committee.
- Conduct
research work, analysis of documents and preparation of position papers,
policy briefs, and success stories in the Education Committee.
- Assist
in the coordination and harmonization of the Council’s positions and
priorities on sectoral matters.
- Assist
in handling and monitoring children mainstreaming across the committees
within the Council.
- Assist
in data and knowledge management within the Committee.
- Ensuring
that all committee reports are written and submitted within the required
timelines and
- Support
intra- and inter-agency and governmental consultations on sectoral issues.
- Support
in the engagement and coordination of the various Caucuses within the
Committee.
- Perform
any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree
in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration or other related
degree.
- Experience
in documentation and report writing for technical meetings.
- Knowledge
and understanding of government-related processes, especially within the
context of Devolution.
- Outstanding

SUPERVISION
The intern will work within the education committee and will
be supervised by and reporting to the Sector Lead of the Committee.

The internship will be for a duration of six (6)

Legal Internship Opportunity at Council of Governors (CoG)
The Council of Governors (CoG) is established under Section
19 of the Intergovernmental Relations Act 2012 with the mandate to provide a
mechanism for consultation amongst County Governments, share information on
performance of the counties in execution of their functions, facilitate
capacity building for governors, and consider reports from other
intergovernmental forums on national and county interests amongst other
functions (Section20).
For better execution of its mandate, the Council of
Governors is established in various sectorial working Committees and
Departments. To enable the Council achieve its mandate and vision, the Council
wishes to recruit an Intern to support the Legal Department at the Council:
Scope of Assignments
Reporting to the Legal Officer, the intern will perform the
following duties and responsibilities:
- Assist
in monitoring and reviewing Bills from the Senate and National Assembly;
- Assist
in monitoring the Hansard and Order Papers at the Senate and the National
Assembly;
- Assist
in monitoring the Kenya Gazette;
- Assist
in coordinating logistics in the Legal and other COG meetings;
- Assist
in following up on actions pursuant to Council meetings, Summit, as well
as Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council meetings
- Updating
schedule of cases and preparation of court briefs;
- Research
and prepare Legal briefs on Legal issues arising;
- Compile
any required information and maintain documentation;
- Assist
in convening and taking minutes for the bi-weekly Committee meetings;
- Assist
in research on contemporary issues regarding devolution
- Assist
in preparation of press statements in conjunction with the Communication
Department;
- Assist
in tracking of the media reports on the Legal matters and developing a
status update matrix on the decisions taken from time to time on the
issues highlighted;
- Support
in the implementation of the Legal Department workplan;
- Performing
any other duty as assigned by supervisor.
Duration of the assignment
The internship duration is for a period of six (6) months.
Required Qualifications
- Have a
Bachelor Degree in Law;
- Should
not be currently undertaking Kenya School of Law
- Certificate
in Computer applications.
- Experienced
in undertaking comprehensive research;
- Outstanding
Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
- Ability
to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail;
- A high
level of computer literacy and proficient in written and spoken English
and Kiswahili; and
- Ability
to work independently and as part of a team.
