INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation is the pioneering force in Kenya’s Media landscape currently governed by GOE (Government Owned Entreprise) Act No. 25 of 2025. The Corporation is committed to excellence in broadcast services to its audience, customers and the public. The mandate of the Corporation is to inform, educate and entertain the public through Radio services, Television programmes services and Digital Media platforms.

The Corporation wishes to engage four (3) qualified and motivated interns to undertake internship programmes for a maximum (non-renewable) period of twelve (12) months in the following Departments as per the outlined basic requirements:-

Marketing Department – 1 Position

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Marketing option) OR Diploma in Marketing/Branding or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Good interpersonal skills, networking and negotiations skills
  • Must be computer literate

Editorial Services Department (Translation Desk) – 1 Position

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree OR Diploma in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies
  • KCSE C (plain) grade and above with minimum of C+ (Plus) in Kiswahili and English
  • Demonstratable ability to translate from English to Kiswahili
  • Good command of written and spoken Kiswahili and English language

Television Programmes Department (Design) – 1 Position

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design OR Diploma in Graphic Design/3D Graphic Design or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Good knowledge of 2D, 3D and 4D Software
  • Must be computer literate
  • Creativity and innovativeness

Technical Services Intern – 1 Position

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Light Current/Telecommunication)/Higher National Diploma OR Diploma in Telecommunication (Electrical & Electronic Engineering), or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Must be computer literate

Other Requirements:

  • Kenyan youth aged between 21 and 34 years
  • Have graduated from College/University not earlier than the year 2021
  • Must attach copies of certificates, academic transcripts, updated curriculum vitae, national identity card or passport alongside the application letter

Upon successful selection and intake, the interns will be required to submit the following documents:-

  1. Personal accident insurance cover for the entire period of internship
  2. Medical insurance cover by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) or any other reputable medical insurance firm
  3. PIN certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority
  4. NSSF card
  5. Two coloured passport photographs
  6. Bank account details
  7. Recommendation/reference letter from the Institution attended
  8. Certificate of Good Conduct

ICT Officer (Digital Services) at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC)

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation is a State Corporation established under the KBC Act (Cap. 221) and operating under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy. The Corporation wishes to fill the following position under Digital Services Department with a dynamic, self-driven and results-oriented professional to achieve its corporate objectives. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Job Descriptions

  • Updating and maintaining websites (news and radio) using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Word Press;
  • Updating and optimizing mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms;
  • Testing, debugging and troubleshooting web-apps to ensure app stability and performance;
  • Implementing content strategies for digital platforms (e.g. websites, social media, video, podcasts);
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for mobile apps and their features;
  • Documenting code changes and app enhancements for future reference;
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations;
  • Undertaking research to keep abreast of industry social media trends and their input on content production, distribution and consumption

Job Specifications

For an appointment for KBC 8 an officer must have the following: –

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Graphic design, Interaction Design, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communication studies, Media Studies/Science, TV Production, Media, Broadcast Production, Journalism, Public Communications or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communication studies, Media Studies/Science, TV Production, Media, Broadcast Production, Journalism, Public Communications or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation is a State Corporation established under the KBC Act (Cap. 221) and operating under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy. The mandate of the Corporation is to inform, educate and entertain the public through Radio services, Television services and Digital media platforms.

Duration of attachment

The industrial attachment opportunities are available in various Departments for a maximum (non-renewable) period of three (3) months with effect from 1st September 2025 to 30th November 2025. The industrial attachment intake is based on the following criteria: –

  • Field of specialization and relevance of the course
  • The Corporation’s ability to accommodate the trainee
  • Availability of requisite facilities and attachment slots
  • First come first served basis
  • Year of study (3rd & 4th year of study for undergraduate students and 2nd year of study for Diploma students).

Requirements: –

  • 3rd or 4th year undergraduate students from a recognized University or 2nd year Diploma student from a recognized College.
  • Complete online the application form and clearly indicate the relevant Department for
  • Recommendation letter from the University or College (Attach).
  • Copy of National Identification card/Passport (Attach).
  • Evidence of registration for the Attachment unit.
