SENIOR OFFICER – ICT SUPPORT
The Organization
Ol Pejeta Conservancy (“Ol Pejeta”) is home to a key-one
population of the Critically Endangered Eastern Black rhino,
and to the last two Northern White Rhinos in the world. It is the only place in
Kenya to see chimpanzees, in a sanctuary established to rehabilitate animals
rescued from the black market. It has some of the highest predator densities in
Kenya, and still manages a very successful livestock programme. Ol Pejeta also
seeks to support the people living around its borders, to ensure wildlife
conservation translates to better education, livelihoods and infrastructure for
the next generation of wildlife guardians.

Role Summary
The Senior Officer, IT Support will be responsible for
ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and security of Ol Pejeta
Conservancy’s IT infrastructure. The role includes providing technical support,
managing hardware and software systems, overseeing network administration, and
implementing IT policies to enhance operational efficiency. The Senior IT
Officer will also play a key role in supporting technology-driven conservation
and operational initiatives.
1. Responsibilities
- IT
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the installation,
configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, including
servers, desktops, laptops, and network devices. Ensure that IT
infrastructure is reliable, secure, and scalable to meet organizational
needs.
- Technical
Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to
end-users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues
in a timely manner. Ensure adherence to IT support protocols and service
level agreements (SLAs) to maintain high levels of user satisfaction.
- Network
Administration and Security: Manage and monitor network
infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, ensuring
optimal performance and security. Implement cybersecurity measures to
safeguard organizational data and systems from potential threats.
- System
Backup and Data Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies
to ensure data integrity and availability. Oversee data recovery processes
to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of system failures or
breaches.
- Software
Management and Updates: Install, update, and manage software
applications and operating systems across the organization. Ensure
software compliance with licensing agreements and implement updates to
improve functionality and security.
- User
Training and Documentation: Provide training to staff on the
effective use of IT systems, tools, and best practices. Develop and
maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, troubleshooting
guides, and IT policies.
- IT
Policy Implementation and Compliance: Enforce IT policies,
procedures, and security protocols to ensure compliance with
organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic
audits to identify and address vulnerabilities in the IT environment.
- Support
for Conservation Technology: Collaborate with the conservation
and operations teams to integrate technology solutions that enhance
wildlife monitoring, data collection, and environmental management.
Support the deployment and maintenance of technology-driven conservation
tools.
- Team
Leadership and Development: Mentor and supervise the IT
Assistant, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the IT
team.
- Any
other additional duties may be assigned.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional
Certifications in enterprise IT, network administration (e.g., CompTIA
Network+, Cisco CCNA), or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP) are advantageous.
- Experience
- Minimum
of 5 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or systems
management, preferably within a conservation, non-profit, or corporate
environment.
- Proven
experience in managing IT infrastructure and providing technical support
to diverse user groups.
- Experience
in implementing and supporting technology solutions for operational
efficiency.
